  • Press patties lightly into breadcrumbs before cooking.
  • Cook in a nonstick or cast-iron skillet for even browning.
  • Double the batch and freeze half for later.

Serving Suggestions by Age

  • 9–12 months: Cut into strips or small chunks, serve plain or with mashed avocado.
  • 12+ months: Serve with homemade fries, ketchup, or soft bread buns.
  • Family-style: Pair with broccoli, fries, or a toddler-friendly salad.

Ingredients

  • 1–1.2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 egg
  • Breadcrumbs, for coating
  • Β½ tsp salt
  • ΒΌ tsp black pepper
  • Avocado oil or neutral oil, for cooking

Directions

  1. Finely grate or mince the onion in a food processor. Do not strain β€” the moisture helps keep burgers soft.
  2. In a bowl, combine onion, ground beef, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Form small, thin patties (2–3 inches wide) and gently press into breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side over medium heat. Cover after flipping to ensure they cook through.
  5. Cool slightly and serve with or without a bun, alongside fries and ketchup.
