Ingredients

  • 1 small tortilla
  • Pizza sauce or marinara
  • Shredded cheese
  • Olive oil or butter, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Spread pizza sauce or marinara over one half of the tortilla.
  2. Top the sauce with shredded cheese.
  3. Fold the tortilla in half.
  4. Heat a lightly greased pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the folded tortilla and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until lightly golden and the cheese has melted.
  6. Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve.

Baby Serving Guide

9–12 months: Serve the quesadilla in soft strips or small manageable pieces depending on your baby's feeding skills.

Make sure the tortilla remains tender and easy to tear between your fingers. Avoid serving hard or crispy edges.

Let the quesadilla cool before serving, especially because melted cheese and tomato sauce can remain very hot inside.

Baby-Friendly Tips

  • Tortilla: Choose a soft tortilla and avoid overcooking it until dry or crunchy.
  • Pizza sauce: Choose a lower-sodium pizza sauce or marinara when possible.
  • Cheese: Cheese naturally contains sodium, so no additional salt is needed.
  • Dairy: Shredded cheese and butter, if used, contain milk, a common allergen.
  • Wheat: Most traditional tortillas contain wheat. Check the package label for ingredients and allergens.
  • Always serve baby seated upright and under close adult supervision.

Serving Ideas

  • Add finely chopped spinach or other soft vegetables if desired.
  • Serve in soft strips or smaller pieces depending on baby's feeding skills.
  • This quick quesadilla works well for busy lunches or dinners.

Storage

  • Best served fresh.
  • Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet or air fryer, taking care not to make the tortilla overly dry or crispy for baby.
