Baby Serving Guide

9 months+: Make sure the biscuits are soft and easy to squash between your fingers before serving.

For babies, use only a thin layer of the peanut butter filling rather than a thick mound.

You can also serve a soft biscuit on its own without sandwiching two biscuits together.

Baby-Friendly Tips

  • Peanut: Peanut is a common allergen. Use smooth peanut butter, never whole or chopped peanuts.
  • Sticky texture: Thick spoonfuls of peanut butter can be difficult for babies to manage. Keep the filling layer thin.
  • Texture: Do not overbake. The biscuits should stay soft rather than becoming hard or brittle.
  • Wheat: Plain/all-purpose flour contains wheat.
  • Dairy: Butter contains milk, a common allergen.
  • Maple syrup: This recipe uses maple syrup, not honey.
  • Always serve baby seated upright and under close adult supervision.

Recipe Tips

  • Use room-temperature butter so it creams smoothly with the peanut butter and maple syrup.
  • Use smooth, runny peanut butter in the biscuit dough.
  • For the filling, use a thicker smooth peanut butter so the sandwich stays together.
  • Watch the biscuits closely during the short bake time. They should only just begin to brown.
